    Hey Philip,

    Awesome post.

I like the Skyscraper technique thath Brian Dean provided. I’ve yet to try it, because I haven’t found the type of content to implement it yet, but it’s something I’m anxiously awaiting to try.

I also like you link/resource about Reddit. That’s something I haven’t used much but I’m willing to try it.

This is a serious list you provided here and, over time, I’ll be checking out and reading each of these posts to experiment with these traffic strategies. In the meantime, thanks for putting this together.

    – Andrew

      Hey Andrew,

I also love Brians blog, it’s awesome.

When I launched my blog I tried the Skyscraper and my post went viral on Stumbleupon.

Not as much as Brians case study but still great!

Bookmark this list you won’t regret it.

        Feb 26, 2015 @ 11:42:25

I also tried the Skyscraper technique and that particular post to date has gotten over 4000 views from StumbleUpon alone ! Thanks Philip, this is a really great list.

I wonder what would happen if I tried just 20 of these ? Oh wait, I WILL TRY 20 of these 😀 I’ll let you know my results when I do.

      Feb 26, 2015 @ 13:57:26

My head is spinning from all this but my question, please, would any or all of these be applicable to a Tumblr blog. It’s the only blog I have at this time. Thanks for any insight.

      • Philip Kleudgen
        Feb 27, 2015 @ 02:03:03

        Hi Rita,

I’m pretty sure you can use almost all of these in combination with a Tumblr blog. I would highly recommend getting your own domain and a self-hosted WordPress installation though.

    • Iman
      Feb 27, 2015 @ 00:04:34

Yes, the Skyscraper technique is awesome. Having a great content is the key to get massive traffic from Reddit and Stumbleupon for free.

Great list of resources to increase website traffic. In fact, I loved it so much that I bookmarked it.

Great treat for all the bloggers who want to have a meal with marketing 😉

    Feb 26, 2015 @ 10:15:57

Hi Philip, good job coming up with all these resources.

Lots of good ones amongst them too. Which of them are your favourites? And what are the results? I would have liked to know why you picked each one too, have you used them all and how much has your traffic increased?

Kim Kardashian, eh? That’s where I’ve been going wrong. At least I can get dressed now.

    • Philip Kleudgen
      Feb 26, 2015 @ 11:10:51

I tried several of those but not all. That’s why I prefer case studies over guides – they’re real life tested.

Currently I’m trying some reddit marketing, so I like those.

    Hey Philip
Catchy title and much awesome resource here.
I’m still struggling with Slideshare as created about 10 slides but unable to drive decent traffic. Lets see if point 72 could be of any help here.

    • Darlene
      Feb 26, 2015 @ 10:47:44

      Wow Harsh..

Just checked out your site. You have an awesome site. I would think the traffic you do get would stay awhile.

    • Philip Kleudgen
      Feb 26, 2015 @ 11:14:17

The headline always plays a big role in getting traffic so this could work well on Slideshare too.

Maybe I should create one 🙂

      • Mark
        Mar 04, 2015 @ 23:48:54

Definitely a clever headline. But doesn’t Google take note of bounce rates? If so, wouldn’t you be risking people clicking out when they see that the promised nudity is absent?

By the way, I always thought that photo made her look like a kind of social media homunculus.

  4. Darlene
    Feb 26, 2015 @ 10:45:55

    You crack me up.

Now let’s see how much traffic YOU get to this page for the keywords “Naked Pictures of Kim Kardashian.”

I’m laughing…but it would be interesting to see how that turns out. Plus I noticed you did put a naked pix of Kim Kardashian in your post so the keyword seekers won’t be completely disappointed.

    darlene 🙂

    • Abraham
      Feb 27, 2015 @ 10:54:46

Now on Google’s first page. It’ll disappoint nudity seeker a whole deal. But it serves us perfect even if it doesn’t have a nude picture.

Philip, this is a monster resource list. I’m bookmarking it right away. I know it will take me weeks to consume all these resources but I trust it will be worth the time.

And the title is really catchy. Thanks for being awesome.

    Feb 26, 2015 @ 10:51:23

    Hi Phillip ,

The link the grabbed my attention and forced to click through it was about StumbleUpon (#8).

    • Philip Kleudgen

    Hello Philip and thank you.

This is obviously such a valuable and comprehensive resource that it deserves more attention than I can give it at the moment. Like Abdullahi, I shall mark and relish the content over several days, if not weeks but, in the meantime, perhaps I can just congratulate you and thank you again.
I was going to reciprocate by sending you a naked picture of myself but, you have done me no harm, so I shall refrain this time.
    Kindest regards and thanks again.

    • Philip Kleudgen
      Feb 26, 2015 @ 12:28:19

    Feb 26, 2015 @ 12:21:42

    Hey Phjlip,

I’ve bookmarked this list on my browser. It was great getting this email on such a dreary February morning. I have been feeling down & overwhlemed about boosting our site’s traffic after our re-design this month and sometimes the universe works out to put every possible option in your face on the morning you’re feeling the most bleh about everything.

Thanks for compiling it, sharing all the links, and acting as motivation for this chick,

    • Philip Kleudgen
      Feb 26, 2015 @ 12:47:39

      Hey Lucy,

Sometimes you just need a little push. I think a redesign is a perfect reason to create a new marketing plan and start fresh.

Just go out and start, good Luck!

    Hi Philip

I can’t say it a blog post. It’s a treasure island for boosting blog traffic.

No doubt it is a worth reading blog post but more than that it is worth bookmarking and above all it is worth resharing everywhere.

It can also be called a tutorial to increase blog traffic and amazingly that is available for free at Jon Morrow’s blog 🙂

Thanks a lot for sharing; you did really a great job by putting all diamonds into a rosary of traffic resources.

    Hi John,

Awesome list of resources. I have already tried some of them and going to try with the other ones.

Hope, this will be more helpful for me. The “Reddit” one is attracting me a lot.

Thank you so much for the great resources. Have an awesome day!

    • Philip Kleudgen
      Feb 27, 2015 @ 02:06:32

Reddit is not much talked about on most blogs, but it can send lots of high converting traffic. I’ve had some smaller bunches of traffic from Reddit and if you put the time in it surely can benefit your site.

    • Philip Kleudgen
      Feb 27, 2015 @ 02:07:50

    Hi Philip

This is a really useful list that I’m going to be digging into for some time.

      Hey Loz,

      Thanks for your comment!

  26. Jan S.
    Feb 26, 2015 @ 18:42:46

Ha. I just started in on the list, clicked on a few of the links and realized “this is gold.” But I also realized there was no way I could do them all. Or even half. Or even a quarter of them. So glad I went back and read your intro. Because now I am SO relieved that it’s OK to pick just one. One! Yes one. And stick with it. Wise words, man. Thank you!!

    • Philip Kleudgen
      Feb 27, 2015 @ 02:11:15

    Thanks again!
    Great stuff!

This is a brilliant resource, thank you very much. One point I wanted to add though is if you don’t have an exciting website the traffic might come but it can also soon go. Recently found this out when I managed to use google analytics on my own site. That might be a good future post, how to keep people on your site. Many thanks.

I very much like Brian Dean’s Skyscrapper technique. It is not really easy, it takes a lot of hard work and committed effort, but it works! And content created with so much dedication usually speaks for itself!

I also like running periods of high frequency publishing. I tried it once and had got good results in traffic – but it could also burn you out 🙂 So we cannot really use this technique in a prolonged way, unless we have a team of content creators 🙂

Thanks a bunch for putting this up!

      Hi Jane,

thanks for your comment. Writing more posts definitely can work but it’s hard to achieve.

I tried it once and wrote all the posts in advance and just scheduled them over the period of a month.

This helped, but I prefer fewer posts with higher quality, so probably more of the skyscraper approach.

That’s right. Early comments on a fresh post published on an authority blog can drive some nice targeted traffic.

Add some other traffic techniques and you’re golden!

Yes Philips. I am making a schedule for that and will adopt another 4 methods for traffic building. Due to lack of time, till now I focused on guest posting on large websites and commenting.

        Will share my progress.

Excellent post and resource Philip and thanks for the mention.

#64 about using snail mail was a great point. Just because we’re online doesn’t mean we can’t get traffic from the offline word. There’s a lot of people out there, everywhere, who want to learn what we’re talking about.

    • Philip Kleudgen
      Feb 27, 2015 @ 09:21:06

Sure, especially if you run an offline business like a restaurant or a local shop it’s important to consider that.

I guess it’s always best to take the best of both worlds to get the biggest results.

Shouldn’t we treat people on the internet like “real” people anyway?

Networking is HUGE online and offline.

      Thanks for stepping by Stuart!

    Hi Philip,

Congrats on being published at BBT! Glen and Jon are super selective, so you’ve definitely earned it! Enjoy the wave of new readers, Twitter mentions, and subscribers I’m sure you’re receiving. 🙂

Also, thank you a bunch for including me in your list of resources! Coming in at #14 is sweet — that was my jersey number all the years I played baseball growing up! Being grouped with such amazing bloggers (I see Darren Rowse, Neil Patel, Brian Dean, my buddy Adam Connell, etc.) is quite the honor. Thank you.

I’ll definitely tweet this to my followers. Thanks again, Philip. This is a wonderful resource you have provided for everyone.

You don’t have to get everything right the first try. Just take enough time to find the one method that works for you and you WILL see success.

I used to think that traffic building is hard work… Well, it’s still hard work… but now I can see the sweet work that Jon has done here. Suddenly the “hard” in the work is no longer about the activities at building traffic in themselves, but new hard is more of choosing from this storehouse of gems right here on this page…

…thanks for making “Hard work” fill so good after all…

I truly am amazed by this great article. I also wanted to write about the importance of a well thought content distribution strategy. Many people thing that if they have great content, it will sell itself. I think that’s just gambling, you should always go out there and promote your content. Need to see how to take a different approach now. I won’t be topping this baby 😉

[ Smiles ] Philip, that is one very long list (However, it was worth going through).

    Hey Philip,

You have listed a lot of great sources. It can be overwhelming, but as you said, all you have to do is pick one and run with it. If you can’t find something within the list to work with, then you never will. One is definitely enough for the time being, once you mastered it, then you can go to another.

This has been preached so many times throughout the years that I’ve been blogging and doing online marketing, but for me I was like an octopus on roller skates. I tried to do them all! in the last couple of years I would focus on one, iron out the problems, learn the ins and out, and then go to the next one. It’s definitely a process, but at least you’re moving forward!

    Thanks for the share Philip!
