The 21 Best Content Marketing Tools in 2024 (Best of the Best)

by Westrow Cooper

There’s a ton of content marketing tools and services out there, vying for your attention (and your wallet).

But which are the best?

Which content marketing tools offer the most bang for your buck and can help you get the job done efficiently and effectively?

In this handy guide, we’ll help you answer these questions. You’ll find tools to help you at every stage of the content marketing process, from helping you start a blog to content creation to content management (and beyond).

Let’s get started.

1. Google Docs

Offering exceptional flexibility and versatility for creating, editing, and (with Google Drive) storing your content, Google Docs is a tool widely used by content marketers big and small.

content marketing tools google docs

How Much Does Google Docs Cost?

It’s free for personal users.

Google Docs is included in Google’s Business G Suite (affiliate link), which is available in three pricing tiers (per user):

  • Basic: $6/mo

Quick Takeaway

This easy-to-use word processor offers “work anywhere” flexibility for creating great content (even offline using the Google Chrome browser), as well as integrated cloud storage in Google Drive and real-time collaboration on documents. Best of all, it’s free.

2. BuzzSumo

    • Jacob,

I wish I knew what I know today about blogging back in the early 2000’s, when I accidentally stumbled upon affiliate marketing and blogging. Great to know likeminded people are in this beautiful line of freelance work. 🙂

  1. What an excellent piece of curation and writing. That’s very valuable info. Thanks, Westrow. Some of those I already use but most are news to me.

    • Great to hear you found the post useful, Daniel, and thank you for your kind comments. All the best on your content marketing journey.

  2. Trello has been a lifesaver for me! Definitely a few here I need to try out. I would highly recommend Airstory for outlining and note-keeping. It’s my new favorite writing tool.

    • Hi Vicky, thanks for your note and mentioning Airstory, which offers some very interesting features. I’ve recently been enjoying trying out Notion for note-taking and outlining as well as a bit of Trello style project management. And it’s now free for personal use, which is an added bonus. Worth checking out I think.

  3. I’m a firm believer that Grammarly alone can help anyone’s vernacular become spectacular, improve SEO, and encourage affiliate marketers and bloggers to create more long-form evergreen content.

  4. Very good info but my head is about to explode with so much information and what I need to apply to a new Shopify store. I will dissect it and apply many of your recommendations to my new store.

    • Hi Thomas, many thanks for your kind comments, and so pleased you found the post useful. Neil Patel – absolutely with you (but I would be remiss if I didn’t also mention our own Jon Morrow in this context 🙂 ). All the best.

  5. Good list. Too bad some of these are quite expensive, but highly useful still, like Ahrefs.

Others are extremely useful yet free for some time or up until a certain number, like ConvertKit.

    • Hi Alek, many thanks for your note. I agree, the point at which you have to start paying is always a bit painful. Happily ConvertKit is quite generous I think, before you hit the pay threshold. All the best.

  7. Hi Westrow,
Thanks for sharing the list of best content marketing tools for 2020. BuzzSumo is the best tool for creating content marketing strategy to engage more customers.

  8. Thanks Westrow, for revealing these best content marketing tools to use in 2020. Although, I have used only 30-40% out of all the above-mentioned tools. But after reading this detailed guide, I have to try these all content marketing tools for my future work.

    • Glad you found the article useful Subhash Kashyap, and thanks for your comment. All the best on your content marketing journey.
